We're All In This Together

Process is everything to me. It's much of the reason why I started Doodlers Anonymous. I love seeing behind the scenes and early thoughts of artists, writers, any creative for that matter. Getting a glimpse of sketchbook pages no one was meant to see, or storyboards that show development of what worked or didn't work is many times more inspiring than the final outcome.

Three Legged Legs has done an incredible job of documenting their collaboration with Droga5 to bring to life an animated ad spot for Method Cleaners and Virgin America. The spot itself is a minute-long animated ride in the sky with illustrated characters and exaggerated stereotypes. Their process of going "…from a super quick shitty thumbnail doodle-fest, to a more elaborate After Effects animatic," is so wonderful to see come to life, and you'll love the end result.

Here are some of the process doodles, but make sure to watch the rough cut animation and more at their site.

This is Me

I love .Bipolar's line portraits. As rough and crude as these drawings are, there's still something tender and poetic about each one of them. I know I've seen these people, somewhere, walking about, trying to get noticed while being a wallflower at the same time.

Spontaneous Combustion

I was at OPPY's "Scribble Project", checking out the train car doodles when I saw Baysan Yuksel's submission. Shortly after, I decided to head over to her site and I'm so glad I did. This artist from Istanbul has a very spontaneous, fun, cut and paste, doodle style.

This Too Helps

Sometimes it's not just about the content, but instead, about the context. When I look at the work of Gamze Özer, I feel like all the elements of his hand-made collages (doodles, paint, clippings) fall onto the page exactly where they belong. They are seemingly done in such a free style, yet you can sense the purpose behind them.
