Leaves haven’t started turning orange yet where I am, but the seasonal change in the air has me filled with anticipation for it. It’s a fitting time for me to come across Mali Fischer’s artwork. Her plant-girls exude a gentle sense of calm that I can’t help sinking into. Through muted coloring and therapeutic repetition of lines and patterns, Fischer pens surreal images of gentleness and dream-like serenity. On pages with bare backgrounds, the focus never leaves the lonely girls and their leaves.See More »
A good friend is someone who doesn't judge you, who always listens to you without making it about themselves, who you can simply sit in comfortable silence with… Perhaps these girls are onto something.
The tumblr we stumbled upon this week belongs to Korean artist Dan-ah Kim. Out of her expansive portfolio, one recurring subject that stood out to us were ladies in their undies with house plants. Because we only see the girls from behind, I get the slightly voyeuristic feeling that I have accidentally walked in on a private moment.
Gentle drawings by Cendrine Rovini take me back to the woods that I frequently visited when I was little.
Again I can sense the same essence of warm plants and trees that surrounded me back then. I like to imagine that Cendrine's sheets of paper have that same aroma. It's like her drawings manage to soak in to the paper and make it smell so natural that you can feel they are back with nature again.
