White With Fear

These are not doodles, they are life like character drawings found in Chamo San's moleskine and I cannot stop looking at them. Each one seems to tell of a moment in time with no beginning or end, just a middle. And take note of the white marks, what perfect subtlety.

It Bleeds

This new set of drawings by Rolf Schröter immediately caught my attention. Ink and watercolor mix, stain and bleed onto calligraphy paper bound in a handmade Japanese folded sketchbook. It's a visual feast, bon appetite.

Blackout

You can't really tell, but the art you see in these images is actually drawn on post-it notes. That's because illustrator Kristen Leonard is not afraid to go all out with ink, covering every possible centimeter of her post-it note.

The end result is some of the most tenebrous art you're likely to see on a 3"x3" piece of paper.

Member Spotlight: Zoe Chantal

I haven't listened to Ladykillers by LUSH in over a decade, but as soon as I laid eyes on the women of Zoe Chantal the song immediately came to mind.

Graphite, gauche, watercolor, acrylic, pen, stencils, etchings; it seems her ladies are drawn with every possible medium and each with more drama and intensity than the next.

Zoe, we're glad you've joined DA. Your ladies are always welcome here.

Building Blocks

Pencil, watercolors and ink. That's about all I know of Mathias Sielfeld. I got tipped on his work from Camila León and was happy to uncover a small collection of drawn buildings, people and alphabet letters.

There was something about the color and lines in his work that really caught my attention and I wanted to see more. With some help from Camila, I was lucky enough to get an email full of photos of his sketchbooks and some other never before seen goodies that I get to share with all of you. Take a look, it's love at first sight.

This is Me

I love .Bipolar's line portraits. As rough and crude as these drawings are, there's still something tender and poetic about each one of them. I know I've seen these people, somewhere, walking about, trying to get noticed while being a wallflower at the same time.

Lines and Halftones

She had me sold just by looking at her menu. Cut out letters and patterns - I'm in! And then I dug a little deeper and I was right. Her work is light and fun, with a mix of collage, images, and hand drawings in different inks. Indulge yourself in Dudu's vast collection of playful work.
