Takeout Cats with Cheese & Pickles

Do you like cute domestic animals? Me too. Do you like pizza slices and ice-cream? Wow, same here! So I was thinking... put them both together and it's double the fun, right?

I reckon so. Now lucky for us, Ohara Hale is serving up a cat-takeaway menu for us right now. Burger cats, egg cats, cats with a cherry on top. There might be something *kind of* icky about picking pepperoni off cat fur... but hey, it's fricken great eye candy!

Sur Alert!

Bangkok illustrator Suralert jirawangso’s women inhabit an inked, abstract world of green spruce trees, coffee-cup-rainbows, lipstick, and mushrooms. I’ve tried-- I can’t pick a favorite. His drawings layer patterned wallpaper, geometric shapes, hand-drawn type, and a confounding control of color. How do you say love in Thai?

Sunday Grins!

Huh? Oh. I guess today is our last batch of hand-drawn answers for August. That went quick!

Let's finish with something fun and mysterious. Let's ring a doorbell and run away. Specifically: let's dish out a few anonymous notes to cute strangers, foolish lovers, grumpy neighbours, and housemates that leave cheese in the fridge and expect us not to eat it.

But first, here's a quick not-anonymous note. To this month's Sunday Grins crew, thank you guys! It's been fun sharing your doodles on the blog!

Sunday Grins! The Ultimate Hotel Room

To design my own hotel room is one of my doodling dreams! Imagine an unlimited budget for a cosy treehouse in the forest, elaborate night lights and (it almost goes without saying) a bedside soft-serve machine. Those are my essentials for a "dream" hotel room. What are yours?

Take a peek at the floor-plans our Sunday Grins crew came up with this week. From giant disco balls, to custom "sewer" rooms for the Ninja Turtles to slide in on. For Chloe McGregor (above) if there's a novelty-sized Yakult beverage on the room service menu, she'll be a happy customer!

My Really Loud Sweater Collection

Most of the DA crew reside in sunny Miami and probably don't even own a knitted sweater. Me, I call Melbourne home, and right now we're smack dab in the middle of winter. So turn on the air-con my Miami friends, this is a celebration of getting snuggled-up!

Belly by Julia Pott

I've been a long time fan of Julia's animated movies, but her latest tops the cake for me. Incredibly heartfelt, Julia draws the coming of age story of Oscar and his experience with leaving something he loves behind. Like him, I can still feel this emotion in the pit of my stomach. Kudos, Julia Pott.

A Little Break from the Hustle and Bustle

Sometimes I crave the simple things.

Lots of white space. Scribbles that are easy on the eye. Something almost child-like and free, but with the neat hand of adulthood.

These hand-drawn collages by Ariel Aberg-Riger do the trick.

To me they say, "ahhh, relax a little, life is nice and a bit funny sometimes". That's what they say to me, anyhow. Enjoy!
