Over 34,000 Doodles Live On Our
DA Flickr Group!

I'm absolutely awe-struck by the sheer size of the Doodlers Anonymous group that lives on Flickr. Launched in November 2008, the group now houses over 34,000 drawings, doodles, sketches, scribbles, paintings and so much more.

It's a treasure of inspiration.

We do our best to consistently moderate the group and dig around for awesome finds. Images above by Jeannine Ortiz, Mary Ruth Patchin, Maura Cluthe and below are some more favorites. If you're a friend of DA, you'd be crazy not to join the group… You simply never know when you might just find your art featured here on the blog.

Colorific World!

Some time ago, I found Lili Scratchy, a french illustrator and ceramic artisan who's world never stops surprising me. Going into her sketchbooks is like figuring out how her mind is like: A whole lot of little speaking monsters, colours, fruits, letters and weird animals.

Don't forget to take a look at her ceramic work, it's pretty impressive.

She has a blog that updates quite often and a Flickr where you can find all her work.

Portland Travelogue

I always romanticized about creating my own travelogue, but whenever I travel, I never get around to it. Perhaps when I'm away from home my curiousness of unseen places overtakes that internal desire. I guess that's why I turn to the web to live out this dream through someone else. Recently, Mike Rohde's Portland travelogue peaked my interest. At first I wasn't exactly clear why. But through the process of writing this very entry I realized that his travelogue was not filled with overly-stylized drawings or excessive details, just sprinkles of doodles across the pages that allowed my imagination to simmer with visuals of places I've never been.

Starbucks Coffee Cup Doodles

Tokomo draws cute characters that interplay with Starbucks coffee cups. Day after day she uploads doodles to her Instagram feed that receive quite the love (over 2,000 likes an image). Her consistency is incredible and I'm always pleased when she reveals how the drawing will play onto the surface of the cup.

Starbucks owes this girl some stock options. More after the fold »

Boo!

I could have gone the ghouls and goblin route — those maliciously-frighting creatures that roam the night, but instead I choose pay tribute to the friendlier Ghost. You know the one: draped in white, a shocked face, and sometimes even shy. It is certainly one of the more charming characters in All Hallow's Eve. This is my tribute (above by obsequies).

That Certain Kind Of Stink-Face

Imagine we're in a real-life gallery right now. You rush up beside me, grab my hand and pull me over to these sketchbook doodles by Russian artist Vladimir Smokov. You say "amazing, huh!" and I nod with a certain kind of stink-face. That certain kind of stink-face that only happens when something is just too good for words.

Then maybe afterwards we'd get a toasted sandwich at a cafe nearby. It'd be a nice day, don't you think?

Sexy Hamburger

Sometimes when I eat out for dinner I get a bit overwhelmed with the menu. The waitress is tapping her foot while I ummm and ahh between the chef's special or an old favourite, or the risky but delightfully-coloured "drink special". I really cannot be buggered with all these meal options, may I just say "whatever" and you choose it for me? Please?

Anyhow. Here's a few freshly hand-picked culinary doodlings by Kyle Fewell from his blog Hello, this is food. No need to choose one. Just eat them all up.
