The Most Versatile Woman To Ever Live

This half-drawn-lady in the hands of David Jablow, led to pages of pages of creativity and insane doodle greatness. On an old novelty pad, David found the above half-drawn prompt with the simple words: Do it yourself. Doodler.

So incredibly uncomplicated, but within that simple constraint David went off and drew some incredible themes of most anything you can imagine, like the inside of a spaceship to the rings of a wrestling match.

It's now a 48-page book. Love it.

The Doodlers Anonymous 3-year
Birthday GIVEAWAY

We've just hit three years old this week.

I want this to last forever. Being a part of Doodlers Anonymous is the most fun thing I do in my day. Thank you to every single artist that has ever inspired me and continues to. To all the fans, readers and doodle addicts that visit us everyday, thank you for being a part of something that I am so passionate about.

As a thank you, we are going to celebrate this milestone with a ridiculously awesome GIVEAWAY. It's so good that I am seriously considering cheating so that I may win.

If you want to play along, simply draw us a really cool birthday card (no vector art please). Scan it or take a good quality photo of it and email it over to us. The team and I will vote on the one we like best and award them with great prizes. There is also a strong possibility two runner-ups will receive prizes as well, so be sure to participate.

Click here to get complete details of what you can win, but in summary: a $100 Gift Card at Blik, $75 at Thumbtack Press, art prints by Kate Bingaman Burt, Bianca Green, Chris Piascik and Sandra Dieckmann, plus a year subscription to Anorak Magazine and the list goes on…

To participate: let us know in the comments below and email your submission to editor{at}doodlersanonymous{dot}com by end of day, September 20th and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get updates and announcements regarding the giveaway.

Open Call / DA Coloring Book

Some exciting news! Doodlers Anonymous is printing a kids coloring book and this is our open call for submissions. Deadline is December 4th, 2009 December 2nd, 2009 and anyone can participate.

Maybe it's not so much a book as it is an over-sized zine. The page count has yet to be determined, but we want all of you to participate. The deadline is right around the corner, so go on and get started. Keep the art kid friendly, sized at 8.5x11 inches and one-color (black). Accepted submissions will be featured on DA and receive credit on their respective pages and in the table of contents.

Featured: Junkyard Sam

Sam is one of those people that I am so fortunate to have met through the "internets". He is also one of the most frank and genuine artists I've had the pleasure of communicating with. In our chats, we always end up talking about the process of an artwork. How it transforms from the concept or doodle stage to the more refined and final presentation. I was lucky enough to get a look into that process (from his perspective) with the following set of featured images. Enjoy.

Drawing Her Life Away

Zara (or zarprey) is a fanatic doodler who tried to accomplish a drawing a day for each month in 2008. Sadly, she only made it to May 3rd before giving in, but the results are a pleasure to click-thru and luckily for us, she has not completely disappeared off the map. Now you can find her drawing monsters on everything, especially post-it notes.
