Watercolor, Baby.

I am obsessed with watercolors these days. This video by Breakbot explains why.

The video was handmade by Irina Dakeva, composed of approximately 2000 watercolor images painted one after another. The song will get you going, the visuals are pure awesome.

Living Life Like Good Homosapiens

Retro Whale combines all of my favorite things into their body of work: Humanimals, imperfect lines, and a kind of subtle humor that makes me laugh in the most ridiculous way. Get to know the work of Kelly, Jimmy and Jaedon and see life the way they do: With a whole lot of color and inspiring rap lyrics to make you feel complete. Check out their etsy shop too. There's so much goodness there.

Fan Mail, Part VIII

We love it when we get fan mail and this one in particular is out of the ordinary. It came as mail, literally. That's rare form these days and it's a beauty too.

Café con Leche (coffee with milk) is the imaginary home of Roi and Inés from Mexico City. Their website is filled to the brim with drawings, animations and endless goodies, so stop on by and give them some love.

We are so thrilled with the postcard. Next time we're in Mexico, we'll have to share a cafécito!

Streak and Stroke

I like Stuart White. Why? Because he likes working on projects with a hands-on approach. And for that, he deserves a gold star, a hand-drawn one. His marks are minimal and simply perfect as they are. See more »

The Witty Universe of Simone Lia

Back in uni days, I was lucky enough to have illustrator and comic artist Simone Lia as my tutor and just look at her work and you’ll see exactly what I mean by lucky.

Simone’s work is a constant source of inspiration for me, I love her way of seeing the world and how she visually translates her observations perfectly both in her illustrations and comics.

Her body of work is so consistently rich in narrative and packed with humour. I’m particularly fond of her heart warming graphic novel Fluffy, and her Jesus as she saw it when she was six years old is absolutely priceless…

Every week I look forward to her blog updates but I also thought it was about time to catch up properly and asked her a few questions especially for this post. Here it goes:

Member Spotlight: Muxxi

Muxxi is a recent member of DA that draws from Guatemala and declares she's lost in a crazy doodle world.

We absolutely agree. It's a weird and fantastic world of characters, expressions and beautiful, colorful scenes. See for yourself »

Cardboardcities

Hope you all had a nice Memorial Day weekend. I spent mine away from the computer for four straight days. This morning, I felt myself jonesing for beautiful imagery, for color, for something that makes me want to drop everything I'm doing at the moment and just draw. I found it.

Feast your eyes on the work of Laura Reburn. Her lines get messy. Her colors and patterns are brilliant. But most of all, her illustration takes care of that overwhelming crave for simple goodness, the kind that brings a little smirk to your face.
