#buckmydoodle: Use this tag as an excuse to customize your own holiday Starbucks coffee cup

Never mind coloring books, now there's Starbucks coloring cups by yours truly. With all the stupidity this week surrounding this brand's caffeinated cup of joe, I've decided to give you all an opportunity to add your own timely holiday doodles, colors, shapes and icons so you can turn this dumb ass #firstworldproblem into an excuse to celebrate drawing.

Download the template here and tag your custom doodle cup #buckmydoodle and I'll share the submissions in a gallery here on Doodlers Anonymous. Cheers!

Don't Cry Over Spilled Coffee — Doodle Over It!

Make something of your mistakes. That’s what Giula Bernadelli does, and the results are delectable. When her food is knocked over, she goes with the flow and creates stunning images using her fingers, utensils, or food instead of brushes. Plates, cups, and tablecloths are the canvas for her delicious doodles made with coffee, honey, ice cream, wine, fruit, nutella… Nothing on the table is safe! You can’t even be mad over the mess made when it's this visually remarkable. The finished results look so good, it’s wild to think they started out as a shapeless stain. Follow @bernulia on instagram if you wanna watch this coffee+doodle addict keep playing with her food.

Designy Hand-drawn Coffee Cups

I found something great this morning while browsing Instagram's main feed: An artist who uses blank white coffee cups as his canvas. He cleverly uses the cups to draw labels for fake coffee branches, like a futuresque Cafe Nebula that I can imagine the Jetsons visiting or the Godot Cafe, where you can have a coffee while you wait. Much of Illarion Gordon’s #fakecoffeebranding has gloomy undertones, a darkly funny subversion of overly-optimistic branding. Follow @luftaffe on Instagram and have fun imagining what your drink from his imaginary coffee shops would taste like.

Also, we've highlighted plenty of coffee-related art on Doodlers Anonymous in the past. Check them out to keep your caffeine buzz going.

The Daily Coffee

This morning (and every morning) I need my coffee to get going. Sometimes for the caffeine, sometimes for the ritual.

It seems Brandon Ortwein would agree. Since October 2010, Brandon has taken to making a daily coffee cup post-it note drawing. As you'd expect from a caffeinated doodle, they are full of color and energetic marker streaks. I love these drawings as a collection. It's a reminder of how something simple, done overtime, could look impressive and complete.

Starbucks Coffee Cup Doodles

Tokomo draws cute characters that interplay with Starbucks coffee cups. Day after day she uploads doodles to her Instagram feed that receive quite the love (over 2,000 likes an image). Her consistency is incredible and I'm always pleased when she reveals how the drawing will play onto the surface of the cup.

Starbucks owes this girl some stock options.

Sunday Grins! Coffee Cups
of the Future

It's time for round two of our August Sunday Grins! This week we asked our ten doodlers to imagine what the average coffee cup might look like 1,000 years from now. Will we (or, more likely, our great-great-etc grandchildren) be getting our coffee fix from a drip in our space suit, or will we just pop a caffeine pill?

Maybe we should heed Krysthopher Woods advice (above) and start to be a little more suspicious of those humble liquid-holders!

Would you like a doodled portrait with that coffee?

Some people have sugar with their morning coffee, some have milk. But a few artistic fellas seem to be taking their morning brew with a side of pens & pencils, thanks!

First off we have Colin David Stewart who hand-doodled a bunch of portraits for the coffee-sippers at Six Eight Kafe in Birmingham. I love imagining that a dude walks in, orders a coffee, and is handed this one-off portrait that looks surprisingly similar to his friend Jeff... or his sister Megan, or whoever. What a trip!

And if we're talking about coffee-cup doodlers, I can't not mention Boey. He's a true cup-drawing machine! Sip slowly and enjoy these hand-picked few...
