Barcelona, 365

I'm in the mood for some sight-seeing today. I took a quick tour around Barcelona through the sketchbook of Òscar Julve. He is an illustrator from Spain who challenged himself to draw his city for an entire year. Barcelona, 365 is the well-chosen titled for his blog. I really enjoy seeing artists set specific motivational challenges for themselves to get sketching, even if it's an idea as simple as doodling your way through your hometown. It's easy to get caught in the details when sketching something right in front of you, but Julve's talented hands stick to creating rough sketches out of thin lines that evocatively capture the ambiance of Barcelona's corners.

Blue Monday

If you're feeling blue this Monday afternoon, simply take a look at the wonderful drawings I discovered in Gosia Herba's sketchbook. A prolific illustrator and graphic designer from Wroclaw, Poland, Gosia makes creating these delightful abstract illustrations look so fun and easy. Visit his Behance portfolio for an endless amount of inspiration.

Abstract Pairings

If only we all had the resolve in us to draw something every day. Boz Schurr is one of them, she draws every single day. She is also a lover of life and likes the color blue.

Not Much Talk

This past weekend, I took a quick road trip from Miami to Birmingham and back. On our stop in Atlanta, I went into a record store and purchased the magazine Blü (No. 8) to keep me occupied in the car when I wasn't sleeping. In it, there's an interview with Pepa Prieto alongside some of her work. My favorite part of the interview is when they ask her if she has a favorite place to work - home, studio, other? Her answer: "…I travel a lot; so wherever I go I take my pens, paintings, laptop and camera. It's part of me and probably my favorite studio is where I am in that moment."

From Paper to Concrete

I am always at a loss for words when I try to describe the work and inspiration that Blu has had on me and I assume many others. He is the master of taking a doodle from the pages of a sketchbook to the walls of the street. It is unmatched in its execution. I could write about his work for the next two days, but it's better you see it for yourself.

First, watch this short film, titled MUTO, then visit his website and finally, check out the trailer to an upcoming documentary on his work, Megunica.
