Coloring Book Interview Series, #14: Chucho Nieto

Coloring books are a personal, therapeutic experience for me. Sometimes I can spend an hour (or even longer) filling in just a single page, which gives me a lot of time to think about the illustration I'm spending my focus on. Unlike the average coloring book, the Doodlers Anonymous coloring books include a list of all the artists involved and where to find them. That's how I ended up asking Chucho Nieto a bunch of the odd little questions that spark while I'm coloring away!

Coloring Book Interview Series, #13: Aphrodite Delaguiado

Aphrodite Delaguiado is a designer and illustrator who thinks with ink. What does that even mean? She understands mistakes aren't all that bad, and sometimes end up being the coolest part of the drawing. I poked Aphrodite with questions about her art and what I got in response was inspiring thoughts on doodling and some pretty worldly context for her illustration in our Coloring Book Volume 4.

Coloring Book Interview Series, #12: Muxxi

Who are these strange little party animals? They're Muxxi's saccharine circus of colorful creatures inviting you to come play. Her illustration in our 4th Coloring Book is one of those pages that takes you by surprise as you're flipping through the book, especially if you aren't expecting a coloring page to be made of mostly black (I wasn't).

I poked her with a few curiosities about her friends with funny faces and candy colors, so come read the interview and join the festivities.

Coloring Book Interview Series, #9: Morkwork

Morkwork is a super-duo team of artists who describe themselves as a "house of ideas." I get good vibes from their playful dynamic and childishly carefree doodles that I can't get enough of, so I asked Glenis and Marcos a few questions about their projects and Morkwork in general!

Coloring Book Interview Series, #6: Polly Lindsay

The thing about finding artists from our coloring books is that you never know what to expect from seeing the one illustration they submitted to us. What I found when I looked up Polly Lindsay was quite a surprise. Her art is pretty out of the ordinary from what we normally post here, but I got a little crush on her unexpected style of cutting and layering paper.
