Showcase #7: Doodle Our Wall

There's probably nothing I love more than making art large enough for a wall, and so I can't help but be extremely enthusiastic about this showcase.

We've teamed up with the awesome folks at Blik (the world's first removable wall graphic company), to present this challenge to you. But this isn’t just another blik on the wall and this isn't just any wall. We want you to draw up something fantastic with our studio wall as your canvas.

And the best part? The submission with the most love will be turned into a self-adhesive vinyl decal to be sold as a 100-piece limited edition run.

I am not kidding either. This showcase is for everyone, whether new to drawing, or a long-time artist, it's time to get your hands full of markers and pens. Get the full details here »

Yay! The Doodlers Anonymous
2012 Hand-Drawn/Illustrated Calendar!

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall…. all you have to do is draw!

Oh Father Time, how you toy with us. And while we usually mark the passage of time with X’s on little numbered squares below stock images of kittens or mechanic-shop ads… next year will be different.

Next year we refuse to allow precious time to be recorded on kitch glossy images—we’re taking matters into our own hands and we’re recruiting you!

Finally, after much anticipation, we’re releasing another home-grown Doodlers Anonymous product. And it’s a good one. DA is creating its own 2012 Calendar and giving our members a chance to contribute!

Calendar artwork will be split between invited artists and showcase winners. The call for submissions is now open for the month of October, check out the guidelines for the fine print.

Happy drawing and good luck!

Showcase #5:
All the News that's Fit to Draw

We are surrounded by information—streaming, printed, visual, glossy, sound bytes. How do you decide which story to read, which source to rely on, how do you digest the information and how do you further disseminate it? At what point does news become gossip and gossip become news?

For Showcase #5, we challenge you to dive into the flood of information and draw your favorite news headline of this week. Share your story and you could win the stupendous Boogie Board LCD Writing Tablet (a $39.95 value), the perfect accoutrement for any avid doodler. Read on for submission details and deadline »

Showcase #4: Draw Your Destination

So many of us sit idle everyday dreaming of our next travel to somewhere fantastical and new. I know I do, and this week's showcase will have you yearning for that next adventure even more. Imagine being given a passport to travel anywhere you like, real or just in your imagination. Now simply draw it for us all to see. The destination is open for you to define as you wish. It could be as nearby as your local street market or as distant as planet Venus.

Share your drawn destination with us and you could win the perfect accessory for your next escapade, the one-of-a-kind Field Journal Notebook by Tom Bihn (a $75 value). A useful tool for any artist on the go, it's essentially a compact, portable, weather-proof, zippered notebook for doodling, journaling or sketching. It's made with love right here in the U.S. of A and it is the culmination of countless hours of design.

We just got one of our very own and must admit, this really is perfect for any urban sketcher. Read on for the complete guidelines to Showcase #4 »

Showcase #3: Balloon Doodle

We've got a fun challenge for you this week and it comes with a deliciously awesome prize. Take a deep breath, blow up a balloon, and sharpie the damn thing like it's nobody's business.

Then just take an incredible photo of your blown up markings and hope to get many, many loving votes, because the winner of Showcase #3 will get a year subscription to Anorak Magazine (4 issues), plus a happy activity book.

Ladies and gentleman, that's not all. Once all submissions are in, the editors of Doodlers Anonymous and Anorak will also award our favorite balloon doodles with a feature in the next issue of Anorak Magazine. Take note folks, this here is one activity you won't want to miss out on (deadline October 20th @ 11am Eastern). Read on for submission guidelines and more »

Showcase #2: Draw Your Line

We have another challenge for all of you and it comes with an excellent prize from the fine folks at Parka Blogs.

Close your eyes for a moment and think about your favorite book. Good. Now think about your favorite line from that book. Got it? Good. Now draw it for us all to see.

Draw it however you'd like: As drawn letters on a ripped page or as a doodled scene in your Moleskine. We encourage you to have fun and do your thing, just make sure to write out the title of the book and author somewhere in the drawing.

Good luck everyone, you have until next Wednesday at 11am Eastern to upload your submission. Read the complete guidelines and prize details here »
