Showcase #13: Doodlebomb!

Introducing... DA's first showcase challenge of 2012! What's a showcase challenge you ask? Well, it's only the best way to participate and show off your doodle skills. Plus, the winner scores some damn cool prizes.

This is our 13th challenge. Could you be the lucky one? The winner gets a $50 credit at UPrinting.com and a 2012 Doodlers Anonymous Hand-Drawn calendar.

And now for the details. It's simple. Just choose a magazine ad and doodle it up. Have a blast at the expense of the print advertising world. Deadline is Wednesday (February 22nd) at 11am EST, click for complete submissions details »

The October Showdown

It was neck and neck until the closing bell, and when the smoke cleared two submissions were left standing at an even 76 votes.

Unfortunately there can only be one winner and so the team and I were left to make the call. After endless debate, DA's editors have voted Nata Metlukh as the winner of the October Calendar Draw by a vote of 2 to 1.

Congratulations to all our participants! Your submissions were inspiring. Now go on and get ready to draw December, because for our final showcase the editor's at DA will make the final pick from the top three voted submissions.

Hand-Drawn Calendar - UPDATE!

Our calendar project is coming to an end. We have amazing invited artists on board and a slew of prior showcase winners. We're down to the wire, in the final stretch, wrapping it up... you get the idea. So if I can make a humble suggestion, you know, friend to friend: hurry the heck up! Get involved by following three simple steps:
(A) Doodle up the month of October 2012 (B) Submit your artwork (C) Pat yourself on the back and high five friends.

Seeing the calendar come together is so much fun, it feels wrong. Muahaha… I love it when a plan comes together!

P.S. For those of you new to DA, welcome! You can learn more about the calendar and how to participate here.

The Trip by Michelle Lasalvia
(Process + Install)

We just got lost in a wonderful hour of cutting, rubbing, rolling, and pulling. How we love the tactile and tangible goodness of a hands-on project: the materials, the planning, the process. What fun to focus on something beautiful and immediate. Instant gratification.

The Trip by Michelle Lasalvia is stunning. The web honestly does it no justice. It has been an instant conversation piece at DA’s studio. The colors are vibrant and the quality of the vinyl and packaging exceeded all expectations. You will be enamored, but you’ll also be out of luck if you wait too long. Stock is limited, very limited (click to buy).

Post this beautiful decal on your wall like a ribbon around your finger—a reminder to travel, an inspiration to get out there.

Submit a drawing for your chance to be our featured artist for the month of June. Make it good. Most of all, make it hot! (Oh, we love a good pun.)

Submissions are now open. Good luck!

It's a tie...

In what is one of the most exciting showcases to date, the April Calendar Draw ended in a tie between Súa Agapé and Kaya H -- both with a rousing 84 votes.

But there can only be one winner. So after endless debate, DA's editors have voted Kaya H as the winner of the April Calendar Draw showcase by a vote of 2 to 1.

Congratulations to all our participants! Your submissions were inspiring -- you've set the bar even higher for the upcoming June Calendar Draw. We can't wait and hope neither can you.

We have a winner.
Actually, we have three.

With so much deliciousness, 99 to be exact, how could we crown just one winner? The comments reflect how difficult it was for our community to select one artwork from a sea of talent. Well, thank goodness for Blik who worked with us to up the ante. There will be three winners-- the submission with the most votes, as well as two Editor's picks. Besides having their designs produced in limited-edition runs, all three winners will receive their own decal as well as a $75 Blik gift certificate and a Blik tee. I just love a happy ending!

Congrats to Harikrishnan Panicker (aka thumbdemon), Michelle Lasalvia (aka Pirichi), and Camila León (aka camiki) whose wall decals will be sold on Blik and DA in Mid-April.

And to the rest of you, there are no words to describe how happy we are with the creativity that was brought to this challenge. We thank you for every effort and submission on this showcase, and hope you continue to join us in many more fun and amazing drawing exercises this year.
