Advice Portraits

The great Maria Forde will have her new works (Advice Portraits) and zine (Longview) on display now to April 26th at the legendary Needles and Pens in San Francisco. Get your butt off that comfy couch, head over there and send me pics, since I'm all the way here on the East Coast.

Home Is Where You Make It

Jolby is the collaboration of two amazing artists, Josh Kenyon and Colby Nichols. They recently held their first solo show in San Diego called "Home is Where you Make It." The work takes us on a journey of a boy who after suffering a great loss, leaves his familiar town of Seaside to discover what home really is. The story is inspired by the artists' pasts and deals with their own recent life experiences. Each piece is vibrant in color and pattern and it made me want to jump out of my chair to show them off.

The Sketchbook Project

Brought to you by the fine people at the Art House Co-op, the Sketchbook Project incorporates the art of more than 2,500 participants and is currently on tour in a city near you. A simple concept that has rendered amazing results and an awesome exhibition. Art House sent out sketchbooks to artists from all over the world, they made art and sent the book back. Today in Philadelphia, then Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, Brooklyn and Atlanta (click for location and times). If you can't make the show, there's over 3,500 photos available online.

"...The Common Cup Coffee Shop will be presenting an art exhibit featuring the doodles you have drawn. DoodlePlanet

Julian is a new friend of Doodlers Anonymous and recently participated in a live drawing event at Telford's Warehouse in Chester, UK called DoodlePlanet. I love events like these, that do nothing more than promote art and fun. See for yourself (photo set at flickr).

Sharpie Show Pics

Back in January, I posted word on The Sharpie Show that was taking place in downtown LA at Crewest's event venue. It opened this past weekend and LA TACO posted some pics from the event so you know what you missed, but don't fret yet, the show is still up until March 1st.
