Learn Something Every Day

Did you know that the space between your eyebrows is called the glabella? Or that kissing for one minute can burn 26 calories? Yeah, me either. But now, thanks to Learn Something Every Day (a self initiated daily project by UK based design studio Young), we can learn all kinds of random and pointless facts in doodle-form.

Say Draw Hello

Kristen sends an email to tell me about The Hello Project, an online social collaboration where anyone can submit a post-it note saying hi, shalom, hola, howdy, etc. It's simple to participate, just write/sketch/doodle an introduction onto your favorite colored 3x3 post-it, scan, and submit via email. It's fun, easy as pie and everyone is doing it.

Letter Playground

I've discovered a new favorite pastime: browsing the wonderful pages of letterPLAYGROUND. The site comes to us courtesy of the talented and generous Nate Williams. Nate is not only one of my favorite artists, he's also the founder of Illustration Mundo, the highly successful illustration community. And now he has given birth to a site full of letter inspiration.

Hand-drawn, digital, photography, collage, you name it and you'll find it. A place to play with letter forms that are represented a million different ways. If you like letters the way I like letters, then you better clear your schedule, you'll need the rest of the day.

Thoughts On Her Bike

I found this amazing video on the Boston Biker blog. Even if you don't ride a bicycle I am sure you will love this short little film.

Follow The Leader

I'm not going to say anything on this one, except, "why didn't I think of that."

Follow The Leader is a small project that we dreamt up recently that focuses on three things we like: friends, illustration, and collaborating with friends. We started with six drawing 'seeds', and asked our friends and community to complete the seeds, in whatever way they imagined.

Just brilliant! Found via @michaelnobbs.

Anonymous Postcard

I love this. Tucker Nichols created Anonymous Postcard as "a suggestion box for the world..." He basically turns words of praise, suggestions or criticism into vague and largely indecipherable postcards and then mails them toward the appropriate recipient.

And I find them visually fascinating.

Magazine Doodles

Joe List currently draws on two blogs, but it's his work on The Annotated Weekender that really caught my attention: a collection of funny and improvised doodles all over the Guardian's weekend magazine. I just spent twenty minutes browsing the archives, you should too.
